Winesellers, Ltd. Introduces a Selection of Artisanal Hard Ciders from France
CHICAGO, IL – May 1, 2015 – Winesellers, Ltd., a national importer and marketer of international wines, is excited to introduce a selection of artisanal hard ciders produced in the regions of Normandy and Brittany, France. Each available for the first time in the US market, the selection includes two single domain farmhouse producers in Normandy and one traditional method producer in Brittany.
Mandoir de Grandouet is a third generation family farm located in the heart of the Pays d’Auge, Normandy. They harvest 70 acres of cider apple orchards and graze 80 dairy cows under the trees, later to have their milk used for AOC Camembert cheese production. The Cidre Fermier Brut ($11 SRP) and Cidre AOP Pays d’Auge ($13 SRP) will be available nationwide through the Winesellers, Ltd. wholesaler network.
Le Brun ciders have been produced in Brittany, France since 1955. The ciders are made using the traditional method of natural fermentation of pure pressed juice from handpicked apples. The Le Brun brand includes the Brut Cidre de Bretagne ($9 SRP) and the Organic Cidre – certified USDA ($10 SRP). Both will be available nationwide through the Winesellers, Ltd. wholesaler network.
Domaine de la Minotiere is a small 37 acre single domain of cider orchards in Normandy cultivated using 100% organic certified farming. The specialty is traditional Cidre Fermier produced in a dry (Brut) and sweet (Doux) style, both $12 SRP. Both will be available at select wholesalers.
“Winesellers is known as a very market driven, fast moving company that can react to new trends and give the market interesting, high quality beverages it demands”, says Jordan Sager, VP of Winesellers, Ltd. “We have been looking for new categories in beverage alcohol to diversify our portfolio. The rapid growth in the hard cider category, combined with the craft movement and general limited supply of French ciders currently available in the US market led us to conclude that the timing was perfect and these products would be a huge success.”
