Winesellers, Ltd. Announces New Imports from Iberian
Spanish Senda Verde and Portuguese Faisão Now Available Nationwide Illinois-based Winesellers, Ltd. has added two new brands to the portfolio, Senda Verde and Faisão, both from the Iberian Peninsula. The addition of these quality brands continues the growth and diversity of the Winesellers portfolio.
“There is compelling interest in quality wines from Spain and Portugal,” explained Winesellers, Ltd. Vice President Adam Sager. “These wines are unique to their region, and we are excited to introduce them into our expanding global portfolio.”
Senda Verde is a collection of artisanal wines from the lush España Verde (Green Spain) area in the northwest part of the country. The region stretches from Galicia eastward along the northern Atlantic coastline, with oceanic and geologic influences creating a different climate from the rest of the country. The brand includes four unique varietals grown in three different regions: Albariño from Rias Biaxas D.O., Treixadura from Ribeiro D.O, and Godello and Mencia, both from Bierzo D.O. Each wine will retail for approximately $12.99.
Faisão is a collection of three wines from two different regions in northern Portugal: Vinho Verde D.O.C and Dão D.O.C. These wines take inspiration from the faisão—or pheasant—a beautiful bird with exquisite colors and unique characteristics. The Vinho Verde and Vinho Verde Rosado are produced in the Vinho Verde D.O.C region of northwest Portugal, just across the Minho River from Spain’s Galicia. The cool coastal climate are ideal for producing bright fruity wines with fresh acidity. The Faisao Dao Tinto is a blend of three unique Portguese red grape varieties: Tinto Roriz, Alfrocheiro, and Touriga National grown at between 2300 and 6500 ft altitude. The wines will retail for approximately $7.99. Senda Verde & Faisão joins the Winesellers, Ltd. Spanish portfolio alongside Carlos Serres (Rioja), Mas Fi Cava (Penedès), Resso (D.O. Catalunya), Navardia Organic (Rioja), and Clos de Nit (D.O. Montsant).
